🌎 Today, there is renewed interest globally as the activism wave that started in the US during 1990s-2000s has moved to Europe and more recently Japan & Asia. We hope to share our thoughts and ideas on this substack.

Who’s writing?
The main author worked professionally as an equity analyst, investment manager and private equity operator with investment experience spanning twenty odd years. Due to the workload, the team employs interns from time to time to help with the research work. We train our interns to become high quality research analysts which A.I. cannot replace. What’s the logo about?
The logo comes from a popular Chinese New Year decor that combines four Chinese words 招财进宝 (zhao1 cai2 jin4 bao3) into one mega-complex word which is also pronounced as zhao1 cai2 jin4 bao3. This original phrase 招财进宝 means inviting wealth and bringing in treasures, literally. Yeah, it’s quite cliche. But please bear with us, trying to put kids through school and pay the bills here.
When do posts come out?
Due to other commitments, we paused regular updates. Posts are irregular starting Dec 2025.
We aim to publish every 5-10 days. Since everyone is busy working earlier in the week, we target to publish during the later days in the week. But occasionally, we might post faster should markets and world developments dictate so. At times, the team needs a break and we will inform readers we will be out of action for more than 10 days.
Where to earn 8%?
The long term average return of global stock market indices is c.8%pa and for the S&P500, it is a good 10%pa in nominal terms over the last 100 years. Factoring in inflation of c.2%, yup, it’s 8% in real terms. We aim to beat this hurdle over the long term. We believe a portfolio of activist stocks can.
